WHO WE SUPPORT

Bungendore Veterinary Surgery is proud to be a part of our town and region through support of fundraising events for local community groups and schools, sponsorship of events such as the Pet Parade at the annual Bungendore Show, and facilitating visits from groups such as the scouts and students participating in the National Youth Science Forum. We also regularly provide internship placements for university veterinary students and work experience placements for school students.

We are active supporters of ACT Rescue and Foster (ARF), Pegasus RDA and Wildcare and the wonderful work they do in our region in fostering and rehoming unwanted dogs; providing horse therapy programmes for those living with a disability and rescuing and rehabilitating injured wildlife. Please see below for more information on these organisations and how you may be able to support them or be involved.

ACT Rescue and Foster (ARF) Inc. is an incorporated association of people in Canberra and the surrounding region who rescue dogs from euthanasia and foster them temporarily in their own homes for as long as it takes to find them loving, permanent homes.

ARF aims to save and improve the lives of dogs in the Canberra region, as well as in surrounding regions, including metropolitan and regional Sydney, by:

  • Rescuing and re-homing as many unwanted dogs as possible,
  • Educating the community about responsible dog companionship,
  • Working with local pounds to help achieve, develop and implement minimum destruction policies and procedures, and
  • Establishing and developing networks of communication for people involved in rescuing and re-homing dogs.
