Most dogs and cats aren’t too keen on letting us take a proper look at their mouths at home. This means a lot of dental disease stays hidden behind the lips, often only coming to light during a routine veterinary check—sometimes when the problem has already become quite advanced.
Cats and dogs are incredibly good at masking dental pain. One of the most common things we hear from owners is that they had no idea anything was wrong because their pet was still eating normally.
However, an animal’s drive to eat is powerful; many will continue to crunch through their meals despite significant discomfort, giving little outward sign that they are in pain. By the time a pet stops eating, the dental disease is usually severe.
To ensure these hidden issues aren’t being missed, we are launching our “Pearly Whites” initiative throughout the month of June. We are offering FREE 10-minute Dental Health Assessments with our experienced nursing team. This is the perfect, low-pressure way to get a professional set of eyes on your pet’s oral health without a standard consultation fee.
During your free appointment, our nurses will:
Perform a Visual Assessment: We’ll check for tartar, gingivitis, and signs of decay.
Provide a “Dental Scorecard”: You’ll receive a physical grade (from 1 to 4) for your pet’s teeth, making it easy to understand exactly what is happening in their mouth.
Teach You the Ropes: We will show you how to safely examine your pet’s teeth at home.
Create a Plan: Whether it’s recommending preventative home care (like specific kibbles or brushing) or identifying the need for a professional scale and polish, we’ll guide you on the next steps.
Dental health is about more than just fresh breath; untreated bacteria in the mouth can affect your pet’s heart, kidneys, and overall wellbeing.
